‘Horrific’: US Supreme court allows Texas to detain, deport migrants The United States Supreme Court has   lifted a pause   on a controversial law that allows Texas state authorities to detain and deport migrants and asylum seekers, a measure critics have dubbed the “show me your papers” law. The top court on Tuesday voted six to three to allow the law, Texas Senate Bill 4 (SB4), to go immediately into effect. Legal scholars, however, have argued that the law subverts the federal government’s constitutional authority to carry out immigration enforcement. Rights groups have also warned it threatens to increase racial profiling and imperil the rights of asylum seekers. The American Civil Liberties Union, for instance, called SB4 “one of the most extreme anti-immigrant laws ever passed by any state legislature” in the US. The actor, whose real name is John Okarfor, was 62.     According to multiple reports from sources close to him, the veteran comedian passed away at Evercare Hospital. Many fans have shared condolences on X (formerly Twitter), reminiscing on movies the late  actor has featured in. South African Rapper AKA Shot Dead in Drive-By Shooting in Durban Rapper AKA, who was born Kiernan Forbes, was reportedly shot and killed Friday in Durban, South Africa. He was 35. News24  confirmed with local police that a “well-known rapper,” believed to be Forbes, was fatally shot outside a popular nightspot on Durban’s Florida Road. “I can confirm that two men were killed and one of them is a well-known rapper. Police will not be releasing any names of the victims yet until a full investigation is completed,” law enforcement spokesperson Robert Netshiunda told the outlet. Officials say the number of dead is at least 41, with dozens injured. Children are believed to be among the dead. An electrical fire broke out as 5,000 worshippers gathered for Mass at the Coptic Abu Sifin church in Giza, security sources told Reuters. The fire blocked an entrance, causing a stampede, they said.
